Co-founded several Native organizations and groups to address violence against Native women including: Ogitchidakwe Council; Minnesota Indian Women’s Sexual Assault Coalition; Mending the Sacred Hoop; Women of Nations; and Nin-din-a-way Mah-gah-nug Council. Advocacy to end violence against women since 1978.

National and State Awards; the Minnesota Office of Justice Program’s Volunteer of the Year in 2018; the National Indian Nations Iris Heavy Runner Award in 2006; and the Ford Foundation Leadership Award in 2003.

Co-author: The “Garden of Truth: the Prostitution and Trafficking of Native Women” and “Colonization, Homelessness, and the Prostitution and Sex Trafficking of Native Women.”
