John leads an NGO team in the Philippines for over 5 years partnering with governments and NGOs to combat online sexual exploitation of children by strengthening law enforcement, prosecution and aftercare to rescue and restore victims and hold perpetrators accountable.
John Tanagho served for 5.5 years as the Director for International Justice Mission in Cebu, The Philippines. John successfully led a multi-disciplinary team in a groundbreaking project combating sex trafficking in the form of online sexual exploitation of children, partnering with governments to strengthen law enforcement, prosecution and aftercare to sustainably protect children from violence. Through IJM's program to combat OSEC in the Philippines, IJM has partnered with governments to rescue over 630 victims, secure the arrest of 250 trafficking suspects, and the conviction of 89, while developing effective solutions for survivor aftercare and recovery.
John is now leading IJM in developing and launching IJM Center to End OSEC (“END OSEC Center”). The Center is expanding IJM programming by sharing our learnings to combat OSEC through a strengthened justice system response with other governments and global stakeholders to combat OSEC globally. Through the Center, IJM will partner with industry, international institutions, and source and demand-side governments to support them in their efforts to protect children from online sexual exploitation and hold perpetrators accountable.
