About this talk

The devastating impact of child sexual abuse is well documented, necessitating an intervention that is both accessible and effective in offering support to survivors. In response to the need, The Younique Foundation offers The Haven Retreat as an intervention for adult female survivors of child sexual abuse. This presentation provides an introduction to the psychoeducational and experiential approaches used at the free, four-day retreat (which is offered three different weeks each month), with a focus on the important intersections of community, education, and experience. The use of a retreat model as a healing modality will be reviewed, as well as third-party research outcomes on participants’ post retreat PTSD symptoms, social support, and coping self-efficacy.

Takeaway Ideas

This presentation will provide education and research outcomes about an intervention that is not often used with survivors of sexual abuse. Leaders can use this knowledge in planning effective service delivery options.
