It is not too late to get your all-access pass!
This presentation will begin by exploring the findings of over 40 years of peer-reviewed research that demonstrates how porn is an industrial product that shapes how we think about gender, sexuality, relationships, intimacy, sexual violence and sexual equality. Because so much porn is free and unfiltered on most digital devices, the average age of first viewing porn is estimated by some researchers to be eleven. The porn industry, always hunting for new markets, is looking to cash in on the popularity of Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok. And to keep porn under wraps, it’s often hidden behind hashtags and emojis that appear innocuous to the untrained eye, but are used as secret code to tag and search for particular types of porn. This workshop will further explore the ways that social media platforms targeted to youth intersect with the porn industry, and how these platforms drive kids to mainstream porn sites.
Our All-Access Passes are a must if you want to get the most out of this event.
